What we keep, why, for how long, and how to stop it.

englishmovi.es · last updated 25 October 2026

You can always say no. Every Billboard has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and it works with one click. For anything else, write to privacy@englishmovi.es. You don't have to give a reason.

englishmovi.es lists films in their original language, mostly English, at cinemas, festivals and pop-up screens in Spain. It is free to use, and you don't need an account. This page explains in plain language what happens to personal data when you use it, and describes what actually happens.

1. Who we are

englishmovi.es is run by Oki Alexander (sole trader), Calle dels Sants Just i Pastor, 133, Bajo Derecha, 46022 Valencia, Spain. The full legal notice is in the Aviso legal. He is the controller for everything on this page.

For privacy, your rights or deletion: privacy@englishmovi.es. A person reads that inbox.

2. Which law applies

The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, together with Spain's data protection law (LOPDGDD) and Spain's law on online services (LSSI). Where the law of your own country gives you more rights, you get those too.

3. If you subscribe to the Billboard

The Billboard is our weekly email: the films opening in English (and, if you choose, in other original languages) at the cinemas in your city that week. It goes out on Friday morning, when the new cinema week starts.

We keep:

We don't ask for your name, phone number or address.

What is required. Your email address and one city. Without an email address we can't send the Billboard, and without a city we don't know which films to put in it. The language choice has a default (English only).

Why we may do this.

You must be at least 14 to subscribe (LOPDGDD art. 7).

Opens and clicks, as totals only. To see whether the Billboard is useful, we count how often it is opened and how often each link is clicked. Brevo, the service that sends it, does that with a small invisible image in the email and with links that pass through Brevo. Brevo does not tie those opens and clicks to your email address. We only see totals per edition and per link, never who opened the email or what anyone clicked. Links to our own site also carry a label with the edition and city (for example "billboard-valencia-2026-w44"), so we can count how many of those clicks actually reach the site. The label is the same for every reader of that edition and contains nothing that identifies you. We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest in knowing which parts of the Billboard people use (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)). If you don't want to be counted in the opens even anonymously, turn off automatic image loading in your email program.

Sponsors. The Billboard may carry a sponsor's message. It is always marked as such, and it is the same for every reader of that edition. Sponsors get no subscriber data, and we don't tell them who clicked. A sponsor link carries a label with the edition (for example "billboard-valencia-2026-w44"), the same for everyone, so the sponsor can see that a visit came from the Billboard but never from whom. Once you are on the sponsor's site, its own privacy policy applies.

Unsubscribing. The link at the bottom of every Billboard stops it immediately. If you unsubscribe by email to privacy@englishmovi.es, we process that within two working days.

4. If you visit the site

The site has no accounts and no advertising networks, and it sets no cookies (only a trailer you choose to play can, see below). It keeps almost nothing in your browser. The one exception: if you close the Billboard pop-up or sign up, your browser remembers that in its local storage (the note says "closed" or "signed up" and when), so the pop-up does not ask again. That note stays on your device and is never sent to us. Your filter choices are lost when you close the page.

Our host, Hostinger, handles technical data on every visit (such as IP address, the page requested, browser and time) to deliver and protect the site. That is on the basis of our legitimate interest in a secure, working website (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)). We don't keep visitor logs ourselves. Our hosting panel shows these access logs for up to seven days; Hostinger keeps them for a limited time under its own privacy policy, for security and fraud prevention.

Visitor numbers, without cookies. To count how many people use the site and which films and cinemas they look at, we run our own counter on our own server. No other company receives this data. It sets no cookie and stores nothing in your browser. For each page view it records:

To tell one visitor from another within the same day without recognising you, the server makes a code from your IP address, your browser details and a random value. That random value is replaced every day at midnight (Madrid time) and the old one is deleted, after which yesterday's codes can't be linked to anyone, us included. Your IP address and the full browser identification are used only to make that code, and are never stored. The records are kept for about two years and then deleted. We only look at totals.

We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest in knowing which films, cinemas and pages people use, so we can improve the listings (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)). Because nothing is stored on your device and you can't be recognised, we don't ask for consent. You can still object by writing to privacy@englishmovi.es. This counter is the only statistics on the site.

Fonts. The site's typefaces are served from our own server, so loading a page sends nothing to a font service.

Trailers. Film pages can show a trailer from YouTube. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press "Watch the trailer". Then the video plays in YouTube's privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com), and YouTube (Google Ireland Limited) receives your IP address and browser details and may store data in your browser to play the video. That is Google's processing, under Google's privacy policy. If you don't press the button, YouTube receives nothing.

Booking links and other sites. Showtimes link to the cinema's or ticket seller's own site. We pass nothing about you to them. On their site, their privacy policy applies.

Google Search. From Google Search Console we receive totals of how often our pages appeared in Google and were clicked, per search term and per page. These are statistics Google makes about searches in general. They contain nothing about individual visitors.

5. If you write to us

If you email us, we keep your message, your email address and our reply so we can deal with your question. That is on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering questions and being able to look back at what was agreed (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)). We keep that correspondence for two years after the last contact.

6. What we don't do

7. Who processes data for us

Nobody else receives your data unless the law requires it.

8. Data outside the European Union

We are in Spain and keep the subscriber list in the EU. Brevo and its suppliers may access it from the United States and India, as described in section 7.

9. How long we keep data

DataKept for
Billboard sign-up you never confirmed30 days, then deleted
Subscriber dataAs long as you are subscribed
Proof of your consentUp to five years after you unsubscribe
Billboard opens and clicksOnly as totals per edition and per link, never per person
UnsubscribesOnly your email address, as long as needed to never email you again
CorrespondenceTwo years after the last contact
Technical data of site visitsWe keep none ourselves; Hostinger per its own policy
Our own visitor counts (no cookies)About two years; the visitor code can no longer be linked to anyone after midnight

We keep an unsubscribe on purpose, on the basis of our legitimate interest: it is the only way to make sure you never get the Billboard again. If you would rather be deleted completely, tell us and we will delete that too.

10. Your rights

You can ask us at any time to:

And you can always object to processing we base on our legitimate interest, such as the visitor counter (GDPR art. 21).

Write to privacy@englishmovi.es. We reply within a month, and it costs you nothing.

If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can complain to the supervisory authority. In Spain that is the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (aepd.es). You can also go to the authority of the country where you live or work.

11. Changes

When we change this page, the new date appears at the top. If a change affects what we do with subscriber data, we announce it in the Billboard first.
